W-4 Withholding Checkup

One question tells you which way to adjust.

You may be over-withholding. A big refund means the IRS held your money interest-free all year. Consider claiming an extra allowance on your W-4 to keep more in each paycheck.

You may be under-withholding. Owing at filing time (plus a possible penalty) usually means too little was withheld. We can help you re-file a W-4 with your employer.

Good sign. Your withholding is close to accurate. Still worth a recheck any time your income, filing status or number of jobs changes.

Common questions

Hourly billing can unintentionally reward slow work. We quote a flat fee upfront based on the complexity of your return or filing, so you know exactly what you'll pay before we start — it's about quality, not time spent.

Yes. Every tax engagement includes a coverage review at no extra charge. If you decide to act on a gap we find, policy placement is a separate conversation — there's never any obligation.

Yes — appointments can be held virtually or in person at our Westminster office, including evenings and weekends, whichever fits your schedule better.

Your most recent return, recent pay stubs, and a rough sense of this year's income. For individuals, also tell us what's changed at home — new dependents, marriage, a move, a new job — since that shapes the numbers as much as the income does. Anything on the horizon (a home sale, a new business, a retirement decision) is worth mentioning too. When in doubt, just bring what you have — we'll tell you if we need more.
